A load of hot air?
A group in the West Midlands funded through BIG’s Community Buildings programme have been rather inventive when trying to publicise their project.
When a weather vane needed to be fixed on top of Cookley Village Hall, the Secretary David Bareford and builder Nigel Oakes used a hot air balloon to climb the dizzy heights to attach it.
The Local newspaper, Stourbridge News, interviewed David who said: “I own the hot air balloon, having flown for many years and I have previously won the world hot air balloon championships twice, so thought it was an easy way to deliver the weather vane.”
Construction began in January, after a temporary delay due to snow and is now on target for completion in November.
This unique stunt has shown that this group have really risen to the challenge of promoting their new community building!
