The Jubilee People’s Millions launch gets off to a right royal start

26 November 2010

After this week’s exciting People’s Millions vote, it’s now your chance to get involved. Have you got a great idea for a project to inspire your community? Want to involve local people working together to tackle a problem? Know what you want to do but need some money to make it happen? The Jubilee People’s Millions could be the answer!

There was a stellar line up at Buckingham Palace for the launch. Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale from ITV news joined four previous People’s Millions winners. There was an exciting buzz in the crisp winter air with lots of interested tourists well impressed at the amazing floral display. Everyone had a great morning.

The Big Lottery Fund and ITV, with the approval of Buckingham Palace, will be helping to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 with 60 Lottery Grants. Community groups will be able to apply for up to £60,000 from a total of £3.6million. Want to apply find out more here.

The People’s Millions in Northern Ireland

The People’s Millions programme has run successfully in Northern Ireland over the past six years generating applications from all sections of the community.

To ensure that the programme remains open and inclusive to all eligible organisations across Northern Ireland, The People’s Millions programme will run to the same timescales as The Jubilee People’s Millions competition. If groups in Northern Ireland want to apply to develop a project to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee they will be able to do so.

Does anyone know when the Queen’s Jubliee will actually be celebrated in the UK? I’ve seen a few different dates floating around and wondered if a final date had been decided upon? I think the date is correct here http://www.ukbankholidays2012.com/ but wanted to check!
    Thanks
