Spring was in the air in more ways than one at this season’s Funding East tour. East of England Regional Development Manager, Jonathan Clark, explains all:

‘Funding East’ is a regular networking and learning event delivered by the Big Lottery Fund in locations across the East of England. It brings together funding advisers and community empowerment practitioners to network and share learning around funding developments and challenges facing the voluntary and community sector.

Each Funding East event is developed around a particular subject and the latest tour, held in Peterborough and Chelmsford, focused on ‘Supporting a Changing Voluntary Sector’. We wanted our audience to discuss support in terms of both financial (new forms and traditional grants) and advice and capacity building.

Issues covered on the day included how to become ‘investment-ready’, the delivery of public service contracts and a debate around the usefulness of a Regional Funder Finder.

And the highlight of the day? Our infamous ‘Speed Dating’ session! Having everyone up on their feet energised proceedings and maximised networking opportunities. With only six minutes per question all around our theme of supporting a changing voluntary sector, there was a real buzz in the room.

The many tweets from the event included comments such as:

Is your project investment ready? #fundingeast says are you future focused. Can you communicate your dream? Do you understand the numbers?

Interesting things coming out of the networking session here at #fundingeast in the form of speed dating!

We’ll be in touch with attendees to see how we can continue to make Funding East a valuable experience so when our next survey comes your way, don’t forget to give us your views. You can keep up the conversations on twitter (#fundingeast) or email the East of England team directly:
