A Big Moment with the European Union

21 December 2015

In October our Building Better Opportunities programme announced the second round of funding opportunities available to projects across England.

The programme sees the Big Lottery Fund join forces with the European Social Fund (ESF) to provide joint investment in local projects. The funding will be delivered in 38 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas according to local priorities, which have been set by the LEPs themselves. It will support a variety of projects, ranging from those improving employability for the most disadvantaged, helping those with multiple and complex needs, to improving financial literacy.EU-image-resized

In November we announced the stage one applicants who would be taken forwards to stage two, and began to allocate the first round of development funding.

One of the organisations receiving development funding and moving into stage two  is Wiltshire based organisation Community First, CEO Lynn Gibson said:

“For Community First – and our bid to develop our ‘Building Bridges’ programme – The development fund has been really helpful in giving us the resource we need to form our plans robustly and appropriately. We have pulled together over 30 partners, sharing the vision and ensuring that working practices are effective.

“All this has been done in order to help those furthest from the labour market, via a complex process. This development phase allows us to crystallize our plans for those different working practices.”
